Bike Theft Prevention Month this September

Bike Theft Prev PosterThe Western Special Constable Service (WSCS) is asking community members to participate in Bike Theft Prevention Month this September. If you love your bike, lock it!

Bike theft is the most common security concern on campus but it is also one of the most preventable.

WSCS is asking community members to:

1. Register your bike using 529 Garage which is accessible through the QR code on posters throughout campus or by accessing the same QR below;

2. Purchase and use a U-lock;

3. Use one of the bike shelters on campus (https://www.uwo.ca/parking/services/secured_bike_shelters.html) or one of the many bike lockers (https://www.uwo.ca/parking/services/bike_lockers.html);

4. Check on your bike frequently and take it with you when you go home;

5. Be observant. Bikes are generally stolen by non-community members. Call 519-661-3300 if you see someone suspicious near a bike rack; and

6. Report someone who is using bolt-cutters or grinding tools around bikes.

Support Western’s goal of sustainability, protect your property, and do your part to prevent crime in our community.

Register it, Report it, Recover it!

Receive a decal and free bike light (while supplies last) by attending the WSCS office after registering your bike with 529 Garage.
